When asthma attacks, you want relief…fast.
Simply put, albuterol helps relax the airways in your lungs.
When you’re having an asthma attack (or bronchospasm), you may start to cough…or wheeze.
Your chest may feel tight. It may even be very scary because you feel like you can’t breathe.
All because an asthma “trigger” has caused your airways to suddenly constrict and tighten.
Smaller airways mean that less oxygen can get to where it needs to go. That’s why you feel
like you can’t breathe when you’re having an asthma attack.
Albuterol relaxes the muscles around your airways.
Albuterol generally works within approximately five minutes after it has been inhaled. And when
asthma’s grip on your airways has loosened…more air can flow through your airways. That’s when
you start to feel relief.
Albuterol is what’s known as a short-acting beta2-agonist, or SABA. SABAs are a recommended
treatment option for relieving the sudden symptoms of asthma, and for preventing
exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB). They are also recommended
for treating COPD episodes.
ProAir RespiClick® is a dry powder inhaler that is designed to deliver a measured dose
of albuterol without a spray or “plume,” and without the need to “press and breathe”
at the same time.
